Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. She is currently the president and the controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and grew up as an heir to a prestigious family. Jerry Buss' father was an investor in real estate and was later a part owner of the Lakers along with several other companies in the field of sports. After her parents split up in 1972, she was convinced that they had abandoned her. When she was 19 years old, she joined the family business as the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. Then she founded the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She was president of the Great Western Forum, before becoming the Vice president for the Lakers. Buss her father passed away in 2013, and the Lakers were acquired by her and five of her siblings through the trust. Every sibling was entitled to an equal number of votes. Buss was elected president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also partner in the ownership of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling organization).
